Looking to stand out on the streets of Stamford, while also staying safe and comfortable? There are two models out there that are outlandishly unique in a way that draws the eye and holds it like glue -- yet at the same time, refined and understated in that singularly Scandinavian way Volvo is famous for.
Unfortunately, they're just concepts -- for now. The Volvo 40.1 and 40.2 are a first look at an all-new 40 Series that is coming soon to markets around the world.
The two concepts, a small SUV and a compact sedan, look nearly production-ready, and that may be the point. The concepts were built to show off Volvo's new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), which allows the automaker to design new vehicles and get them ready for market quickly, while maintaining the same standards of safety and ride quality.
"By taking a modular approach to both vehicle architecture and powertrain development we have succeeded in leap-frogging many of the players in the premium segment. Our new battery electric powertrain variant opens yet another exciting chapter in the unfolding Volvo story." -- Dr Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President Research & Development
